BREAKING! Bayern Leverkusen Sign Timothy Fosu-Mensah From Manchester United (Details)

Bundesliga Club Bayern Leverkusen have now announced the signing of defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah in a £1.8m deal from Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

The 23-year-old defender has decided to leave Manchester United after playing 30 first-team matches over the last six-and-a-half seasons.

His time as a Manchester United player did not last long because he was sent out on loans frequently.

Fosu-Mensah has now signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga club until 2024.

Bayern Leverkusen are currently third on the Bundesliga table and hopeful of winning the German title.

According to Manchester Evening News, the 23-year-old was not happy to leav United but is excited about the opportunity of a fresh start.

Fosu-Mensah rejected the new three-year contract from Manchester United in December.

The Holland defender is regarded for the different positions he can play such as centre-back, right-back or defensive midfield.

Bayern Leverkusen Sporting Director, Simo Rolfes said: ‘Timothy is a play that adepts fast and a physically strong defender who can play as a right-back and in the centre.

‘He is young and capable to develop.’

Fosu-Mensah, has been given the No 24 shirt at Bayern Leverkusen.

He said: ‘[This is a major step into a very interesting and strong league in which Bayer has been one of the best clubs for so many years.

‘I’m looking forward to working with my new teammates and Coach Peter Bosz.

‘I’ve spoken to the trainer over the past few days and conversations with Simon Rolfes and Rudi Voller have convinced me about Leverkusen.

‘It’s going to be exciting here.’

Manchester United signed Fosu-Mensah in 2014 from the Ajax academy and he made his professional debut as a left-back in the 3-2 Premier League against Arsenal.
