BREAKING: Real Madrid Star Mariano Diaz Tests Positive For Coronavirus!

A Real Madrid player has now tested positive for coronavirus and could now miss the Champions League match against Manchester City, MySportDab reports.

According to MySportDab sources, a player in Zinedine Zidane’s squad has returned with a positive Covid-19 test.

The player is now in quarantine at home.

Real Madrid have confirmed that the player who tested positive is 26-year-old forward Mariano Diaz.

A club statement read:

“After the COVID-19 tests carried out individually on our first football team yesterday by the Real Madrid Medical Services, our player Mariano has given a positive result.

“The player is in perfect health and complying with the sanitary isolation protocol at home.”

The rest of the Real Madrid squad could now have been infected.

The Spanish club are due to face Manchester City in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League round on August 7 at the Etihad Stadium.

MySportDab understands that Mariano Diaz will now have to undergo two-week quarantine, which has ruled him out of the game.

It comes just after Real Madrid won the LaLiga title, which followed some protocols to ensure the season could be finished despite the pandemic.

Real Madrid now face a tough task to eliminate City to win the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s team have a 2-1 aggregate lead from the first leg in March at the Bernabeu.
