The nominees for the 2026 CAF Awards Women’s National Team of the Year have been announced, with 10 countries shortlisted for the prestigious African football award.
Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco are among the teams competing for the honour following their performances in women’s international football.
Other countries on the list include Algeria, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Malawi and Mali.
The nomination highlights the growing strength of women’s football across Africa, with more national teams making progress and competing at a higher level.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons makes the list despite having their worst campaign ever at the WAFCON.
However, the Nigerian side defeated hosts Morocco in the final to win their record-extending 10th WAFCON title in 2025.
South Africa and Morocco have also established themselves as strong teams in African women’s football, while Ghana, Cameroon and the other nominees will hope their performances earn them the award.
The CAF Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in African football, recognising players, coaches and national teams that have made a significant impact.
The winner of the Women’s National Team of the Year award will be announced at the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony.
