Tottenham officially announced and unveiled the signing of Argentine defender Marcos Senesi who joins as a free agent.
The 29-year-old center-back joins the club on a free transfer after his contract with Bournemouth expired at the conclusion of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Senesi’s arrival marks the second major addition of the summer for Tottenham, following the earlier acquisition of left-back Andy Robertson.

These signings shows manager Roberto De Zerbi’s urgent mandate to overhaul a defensive unit that has struggled significantly over the past two seasons.
Tottenham, which narrowly avoided relegation in a tense final-day finish last campaign, has conceded over 120 league goals across the last two years, making the arrival of an experienced, ball-playing defender a vital priority.
De Zerbi expressed his enthusiasm for the transfer, highlighting Senesi’s tactical versatility and composure, which was why they had to make the move for him.
Senesi made 128 appearances for Bournemouth during his four-year tenure on the south coast. Since arriving from Feyenoord in 2022, he has evolved into a well-rounded defender known for his ability to read the game and initiate play from the back.
Despite interest from various clubs across Serie A and LaLiga, Senesi chose to continue his career in North London, citing the project currently being built under De Zerbi as a primary motivation.
Marco said: “It’s a very special feeling to be a Tottenham Hotspur player.
“From the first moment, the Club has shown why they want me and how much they want me to be a part of what they are building.
“It’s exciting and something I can’t wait to be involved in.
“Every time I step on the pitch, I will do my best to make the fans proud and to take the Club back to the place it belongs.
“I want to win things with Tottenham and will do everything I can to make that happen.
The signing comes during a period of intense transition for Tottenham. In addition to securing new talent, the club is trimming its squad after confirming that midfielder Yves Bissouma will depart upon the expiry of his contract.
Conversely, veteran defender Ben Davies has committed his future to the club, signing a new one-year extension that will see him enter his 13th season in North London.
As the club transitions into this new era, the arrival of Senesi is expected to provide the stability and leadership needed to stabilize a backline in flux.
The Argentine will officially join his new teammates on July 1, marking the beginning of a crucial pre-season for a Tottenham side desperate to move past the struggles of recent years.
