Erling Haaland has challenged Manchester City to respond strongly after their Premier League title hopes officially ended following a frustrating 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.
City needed a victory at the Vitality Stadium to keep the title race alive heading into the final weekend of the season. However, Junior Kroupi’s first-half goal left Pep Guardiola’s side chasing the game before Haaland rescued a late point with a 95th-minute equaliser.
The result confirmed Arsenal as Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, ending City’s dominance after consecutive title-winning campaigns.

Despite lifting both the FA Cup and EFL Cup this season, Haaland admitted missing out on the league crown remained a major disappointment. The Norwegian striker insisted the squad must use the setback as fuel heading into next season.
“In the end, every game in the Premier League is difficult. We tried, but it wasn’t enough,” Haaland told the club’s media channels.
“The whole club should use this as motivation now. We should be angry and feel a fire inside because it’s not good enough.
“It’s been two years now without winning the league and it feels like forever. Everyone who will still be here next season must do everything possible to win it back.”
Haaland also reflected on City’s overall campaign, admitting there were moments where they could have pushed harder in the title race despite securing two domestic trophies.
Manchester City’s season has also been overshadowed by growing uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future. Reports earlier this week claimed the Spaniard could leave the club at the end of the campaign, potentially bringing an end to his remarkable spell at the Etihad Stadium.
If Guardiola departs this summer, it would mark the first time in his managerial career that he failed to win the league title in consecutive seasons before leaving a club.
The City manager avoided directly addressing the speculation before and after the Bournemouth clash, with attention now shifting towards Sunday’s home match against Aston Villa, which could become an emotional farewell occasion for one of the Premier League’s greatest managers.
For City, the challenge now will be ensuring this season’s disappointment becomes the motivation behind another title charge next campaign.
