OFFICIAL! Asisat Oshoala Leaves Barcelona For Bay FC In USWL

Nigerian and Barcelona Femeni sensation has left Barcelona Femeni to join the United States Women’s  Soccer League team Bay FC, MySportDab reports.

Barcelona Femeni confirmed the departure of the prolific Nigerian forward on their social media handle today.

Barcelona Femeni club statement thanked Oshoala for all she has done for the club and also revealed the club have been paid £150,000 from the deal with Bay FC to sign the 29-year-old.

Oshoala had the remaining months of this season remaining on her Barcelona Femeni contract and was ready to leave the club following her recent struggle to nail down a regular spot in the club’s starting IX.

Close sources reveal the reigning African Women’s Footballer of The Year pushed for her Barcelona exit with just months left on her deal.

She would have left at the end of this season as well but Barcelona opted out to cash in on a deal from Bay FC who were ready to pay handsomely for the services of the four-time Primeira title winner.

Oshoala joined Barcelona Femeni from Chinese club Dalian Qunaijan in 2019 on loan. Following an impressive loan campaign with the Spanish giants, she was signed permanently.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool player did not disappoint. She banged in 7 goals in 7 appearances for the club and led the club to the Primeira Division title in 2020-21 in her first full season with the club.

Oshala would go ahead to win three more consecutive Primeira titles for Barcelona, including 2 UEFA Women’s Champions League, 4 Spanish Women’s Super Cup, and 2 Spanish Women’s Copa de la Reina.

She is the most decorated Nigerian and African Women’s footballer in history and will hope to recreate her magical on-field heroics as she takes up the exciting new challenge with Barcelona Femini.

As per reports, Oshoala has penned down a two-year contract with Bay FC till 2026, with an option of a one-year extension till 2027.
