As per The Sun, United wanted to keep Mason Greenwood at Old Trafford to continue his game after he was cleared of any wrongdoing by the club’s internal investigation panel.

Fears of media backlash amid growing protest against the youngsters’ return  forced the club to resettle him on a loan deal away from Old Trafford.

It is believed Greenwood is more likely to continue his career in La Liga if his Man United return will be marred with an unsolicited negative media blitz.

However, Manchester United must sanction such a move with Sir Ratcliffe to take the final decision.
