Manchester United Issue Statement, Confirm Decision on Marcus Rashford

Manchester United have confirmed their decision on Marcus Rashford amid the recent media backlash on the player, MySportDab reports.

Marcus Rashford was dropped off the Manchester United squad against Newport County in the FA Cup for disciplinary reasons.

The England star was spotted having a nice time in a nightclub in Belfast, England on Thursday, January 25.

On Friday, January 26, Rashford refused to turn up for Manchester United training. In Man United’s squad update ahead of Newport County clash, Rashford made the list of players unavailable for the Red Devils as he was reportedly ill.

However, footage then emerged of the player wiling away time at the nightclub in Belfast. Obviously breaching disciplinary rules guiding the squad, Rashford was set for a fallout with Erik ten Hag.

When the Dutch was asked about the incident on Sunday, he dismissed it as an ‘internal matter.’

On Monday, Rashford arrived at the Man United training ground with his agent to iron out issues with Erik ten Hag.

A few hours after the duo’s showdown talks, Manchester United issued a statement confirming the club’s position and decision on the saga.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United said Marcus Rashford has taken responsibility for his actions and the club has handled it as an internal matter, hence the case is ‘closed.’

“Marcus Rashford has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as internal disciplinary matter which is now closed,” United club statement reads.

United’s decision to thrash out the case means Rashford will be expected back at Manchester United training and will likely be available for selection on Thursday when United will take on Wolves in midweek action.

Meanwhile, reactions have continued to trail Manchester United’s purported bias in the handling of Rashford’s saga.

Some United fans believe the club has compromised integrity standards by not banning the player as they did to Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

Rashford has had a difficult season with Manchester United this season, struggling to find form. He has 4 goals and 2 assists in 20 Premier League matches for the club
