BREAKING! Mo Salah Leaves AFCON After Injury

Mohamed Salah has exited Egypt 2023 AFCON squad after suffering a grim injury blow, MySportDab reports.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed in Bournemouth post-match briefing the prolific winger is back with Liverpool following his AFCON injury.

Salah will be expected to undergo a further assessment, diagnosis, and treatment by Liverpool medical team. He will also undergo his rehabilitation with the Reds while Egypt continue on their AFCON campaign.

Salah, who scored a late equaliser for the Pharoahs against Mozambique in their AFCON opener, was injured in their second Group Batch against Ghana.

The Liverpool legend limped off the field with a harmstring issue before the first half break. Egypt Football Federation confirmed Salah is ruled out of Egypt’s final Group B clash against Cape Verde, including round of 16 match should the Pharoahs qualify to the next round of the competition.

Salah’s injury sent shock waves to Liverpool who considered the deadly winger key to the team with Jurgen Klopp hoping on his speedy recovery.

Now, Salah has returned to Liverpool as the club intensify moves to have him return to full fitness, hoping to count on his contribution as they set sights on wrestling the Premier League title from Manchester City.

However, Salah is not totally ruled out of AFCON. Jurgen Klopp added the right-winger could be allowed to return to AFCON should Egypt qualify for the final of the tournament.

The 2021 runners-up are at the risk of crashing out at the group stages of the competition after dropping points in their first two group matches.

They will need nothing lasses from a win against group leaders Cape Verde, who gave won their two matches, to book a place in the knockout of the tournament.
