Everton Hit With 10-Point Deduction

Everton have been hit with a 10-point deduction in a big blow to Sean Dyche’s effort to steer the club off the relegation zone, MySportDab reports.

Everton are among the lowly-rated Premier League clubs that have fallen off the pecking order of recent.

They have been in a perennial battle to survive relegation towards the end of each season but this term it appears Sean Dyche, who saved the team from relegation last season, is doing a great job to stay off the drop zone.

Now, the effort of the English gaffer has been dealt a heavy blow as the Premier League have slammed the club with a 10-point deduction.

The verdict had been looming over the Toffees and casting a shadow over what has been a positive few weeks for Sean Dyche’s side, who have now been dragged right back down into a relegation dogfight – moving from 14th to second bottom in 19th.

An independent commission made the judgement after Everton posted staggering financial losses of almost £372million over a three-year period, more than £250m above what the Premier League’s guidelines permits in their profit and sustainability rules.

The Merseyside club responded to the penalty with a statement confirming their intention to appeal the verdict.

A points deduction of 12 points was the most punitive option on the table and the timing of when the penalty should occur was also at the discretion of the committee.

The Toffees’ fans will hope the club will come out unscathed as they plan to appeal the decision and restore the deducted points.
