Barcelona have kicked off their Champions League campaign with a resounding win against Belgian side Royal Antwerp, MySportDab reports.

Match Report

Barcelona started the game on the front foot and roasted the visitors with a haul of goals in few minutes.

It was another rosey ride for the Catalans, who went into the game with an unbeaten Laliga start.

Playing on a neutral ground away from Camp Nou due to the ongoing reconstruction of the stadium, the Catalans nailed the game effectively in few minutes with a domineering display from start to finish.

Royal Antwerp rarely came out of their half and were forced down their own half from the start as Barcelona ramp up attempt to score.

Battling to match the pace, possession, and attacking flair of the hosts, Royal Antwerp fell back in their numbers and pulled a solid defensive display to deny the Catalans.

However, they could not hold on for long as Atletico Madrid loanee to Barcelona, Joao Felix, scored his second goal for the club this season, netting an 11th minute opener to give Barcelona the lead.

Royal Antwerp did little to cancel the deficit as Barcelona continued with their dominant display going forward.

Six minutes after Joao Felix’s opener, Robert Lewandwoski was on target for the Catalans to double the lead thanks to an assist from Joao Felix.

Before the first half break, Barcelona capped a clinical first half display with a third goal in the 22nd minute no thanks to an own goal by Royal Antwerp player Battalie.

With a three-goal lead from first half, the Catalans continued on their dominant display in the second half and were set to extend the lead.

Nine minutes into the second half, Gavi found the back of the net in the 54th minute before Joao Felix made 5-0 in the 66th minute.

Barcelona continued to dominate proceedings till the end and ran out with the 5-0 win after the final whistle
