FT: Nurnberg 1-1 Arsenal, Gunners HELD! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Arsenal have been held in their first preseason friendly as they settled for a 1-1 draw with Nurnberg, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

It was a disappointing outing for the Premier League side as they settled for a draw with the German club despite taking absolute control of the game.

Arsenal got to a good start from the first minute and were set to dominate proceedings going forward.

Just into seven minutes of the game, the Premier League side took the lead with Bukayo Saka with the opening goal.

After the early lead, Arsenal continued to dominate proceedings and were looking for a second goal in earnest.

Nurnberg made no clear attempt to offset the deficit as they held themselves back in their own half to ward off Arsenal’s mounting pressure.

The Gunners had more chances to double the lead but seems less clinical making them count.

After a dragging first half, Arsenal settled for the 1-0 lead going into the break.

Second Half Report

Arsenal continued on their brilliant start and were more threatening but Nurnberg held their nerves to stop the London club while waiting to catch up on counter attacks.

While Arsenal were largely the better side, Nurnberg still put up a better performance in the second half and were looking deadly on counter attacks.

Arsenal wasted a slew of chances in the second half and were made to pay dearly after the hour mark when Nurnberg scored the equaliser in the 62nd minute.

Okunuki gave the German side a lift beating Arsenal’s sustained pressure to score the equaliser.

After conceding the equaliser from the lowly-rated side, Arsenal ramped up attempts to go back into the lead all to no avail as the German club held on to salvage a 1-1 draw after the final whistle.
