David Silva has retired from professional football after a heroic career, MySportDab reports.

The legendary Manchester City and Real Sociedad player finally hung the boots after a prolific career in the Premier League and the La Liga.

While his retirement from the game is coming as a shock, it is understood the Spain football legend was reportedly considering retirement after he suffered a devastating injury blow in preseason training this summer.

David Silva picked up an ACL injury that was reportedly set to sideline him for months.

Following the injury, sources close to the former Manchester City star confirmed he was considering retirement.

Now, the Spaniard have finally hung the boots as he hopes to recover from the ACL injury for more private time away from football

David Silva was among the big name players in Manchester City who saw the club rose from ashes to Premier League giants.

Before reaching the peak of his career at Manchester City, David Silva started his career with Valencia in 2003.

He played for Valencia B from 2003 to 2004 before making his senior club debut in 2004.

After two loan spells at Eiba and Celta Vigo, David Silva joined Manchester City in 2010 and played for 10 years for the club till 2020 when he returned to Spain to continue with his career.

He made 309 Premier League appearances for Manchester City, scoring 60 goals and winning four Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 5 EFL Cup, and two Community Shield.

He joined Real Sociedad in 2020 from Manchester City and has made 74 La Liga appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals.

Silva won 125 caps with Spain national team, scoring 35 goals since making his debut in 2006.

He retired from Spain national team in 2018 after winning two Euro Championships and the 2010 World Cup.
