Erik Ten Hag Confirms Wout Weghorst Transfer Plan Next Season! (Details)

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has confirmed his transfer plan for Wout Weghorst next season, MySportDab reports.

Wout Weghorst joined Manchester United from Burnley on loan which is set to expire at the end of the season.

After his initial stint as a central striker for the Red Devils, Erik Ten made a shock tactical swoop, preferring to play Wout Weghorst as an attacking midfielder behind Marcus Rashford.

The tactical switch seems to have yielded results with Wout Weghorst gelling into Erik Ten Hag’s Man United setup quickly.

However, Wout Weghorst has struggled in front of goals at Manchester United.

He has only scored two goals in 15 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions.

There have been speculations about his future at the club with his loan spell expiring at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have been linked to three prolific strikers in Europe in the summer.

The club are eyeing a move for Kolo Randal Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt in German Bundesliga.

The France international has 16 goals and 14 assists in 23 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.

Erik Ten Hag is also planning a summer move for Victor Osimhen who is Serie A’s top scorer with 21 goals for Napoli this season.

The Red Devils are reportedly ready to splash over £100m for Victor Osimhen but must battle with domestic rival Chelsea to sign the 24-year-old.

Premier League second highest top scorer and England and Tottenham’s all-time top scorer, Harry Kane, is also on the transfer radar of Manchester United.

With a list of those prolific attackers on the transfer radar of Manchester United, the future of Wout Weghorst has been uncertain.

The Dutch has reiterated he wants to stay at Old Trafford and would want his loan deal to be made permanent.

Now, Erik Ten Hag has confirmed his plan for Wout Weghorst for next season.

Despite his resolve to sign more strikers at the end of the summer, Erik Ten Hag said he wants Wout Weghorst to stay at Old Trafford.

When asked if Weghorst could fit into his long-term plans for United, Erik Ten Hag replied in the affirmative, lauding the high-pressing skills of Wout and how he is a perfect match for his style of play.

“Of course. I think he is doing a lot of elements of football really well.

“Wout is doing a really good job for us. He is the leader of the process of pressing, he starts the press and is very good at backward pressing.

“He is also taking up (good) positions and in his link-up play he’s doing really well. I would like him to continue with us next season,” Ten Hag said.

Wout Weghorst was a super sub who turned the table around for the Netherlands in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinal against Argentina.

He scored two late goals to drag the game to penalties where they lost to the Argentines.

As things stand, he has gelled into Erik Ten Hag’s Man United setup and the club may likely make plans to make his loan deal permanent at the end of the season.
