Just seven minutes into the game, McTominay opened the scoring for the home side.

It was thought Spain will pull a comeback but they missed it as the Scotts held on to win the first half by a lone goal.

Steve Clarke’s men went into the break buoyed after a superb balanced charge against the European giants.

In the second half, Spain tried to make dangerous come-back moves but were effectively contained by the Scotts.

In the 51st minute, Mc Tominay hit the net again to double the lead for Scotland.

His double was enough to condemn Spain to a shock defeat at Hampden Park while the Steve Clarke-led boys emerged victorious.

McTomminay made the headlines after the brace against Spain.

It was his fourth goal for Scotland in the international break.

McTomminay scored a double in Scotland’s opening qualifiers over Cyprus, helping the Tartan Army to a deserved 3-0 win.

He has now backed it up with another double over Spain in a convincing 2-0 victory.

Scotland are now top of Group A with a maximum of 6 points from 2 matches and are building the right momentum towards qualifying for Euros 2024 in Germany.

McTominay has now scored four goals in the qualifiers for Scotland.
