FT: Argentina 2-1 Australia, Lionel Messi STRIKES! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Lionel Messi scored as Argentina cruised in the quarter final of the World Cup beating Australia 2-1, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

The first half display was immense coming from both Nations who did a lot from their part going forward and hoping to make something happen.

Australia did start the game well but they were good enough in making sure they held things down and not go down as the encounter carried on between the two teams.

Argentina were superb in their dealings going forward which also saw them doing well enough in terms of making sure they dominate play knowing they had better quality over their opponent.

The goal came in the 35th minute after Lionel Messi was laid in well with a perfect short pass which saw him finishing off with a ground ball to make it 1-0.

Messi goal was the only thing which was the first half coming to an end with Argentina taking a 1-0 advantage against Australia after 45 minutes of football played between both teams.

Second Half Report

More action surfaced in the second half of the game which saw both teams getting into action in terms of making something happen.

Argentina continued to press in the match until Julian Alvarez scored in the 57th minute of the game which made the scoreline increased to 2-0 as it Carried on forward.

Alot more was seen in the game which also saw Australia hitting the back of the net with a wonderful finish from Craig Goodwin in the 77th minute of the match which made it 2-1.

There was nothing more to offer from both teams who carried on with the game with the scoreline staying the same as they entered the 90th minute with the Argentines in the lead.

The match came to an end with Argentina making it into the quarterfinal beating Australia 2-1 in what was an entertaining game all through the 90 minutes plus added time played.
