Ivan Toney: Reece James Aims Dig At Gareth Southgate After Brace Vs City!

Reece Janes has aimed a slight dig at England manager Gareth Southgate after Ivan Toney scored a brace against Manchester City at Etihad, MySportDab reports.

Brentford pulled a shocker at Etihad, thumping Manchester 2-1 to pick all three points against the star-studded side.

Ivan Toney gave the Bees the lead after a great header, but Phil Foden’s thunderbolt canceled his effort just at the end of the first half.

Both sides went into the break with a 1-1 scoreline, but the former Peterborough striker put up a man-of-the-match performance again in the second half

Ivan Toney scored a stoppage-time winner to stun the defending champions and increase his Premier League tally this season to 10 goals.

His performance came a day after Gareth Southgate left him out of England’s 2022 World Cup squad, citing his limited experience with the Three Lions Squad as the reason.

Ivan Toney is the second England forward with the highest number of goals in the Premier League this season, except Harry Kane, and pundits have slammed Gareth Southgate for leaving out the in-form striker from the squad.

Ivan Toney posted his goal celebration on his Instagram page, attracting comments from fellow England stars who were left out of the squad.

Chelsea right-back Reece James, who was also left out of the squad due to injury, took to the comment section to aim a slight dig at Gareth Southgate.

Reece James scripted Jose Mourinho’s 2014 viral comment, “If I speak, I am in big trouble.”

Tammy Abraham, who was also left out of the squad, was among those who commented on the post.

Meanwhile, Ivan Toney had admitted disappointment after being left out of the Three Lions World Cup squad.

However, he had moved on and kept faith “in what he is capable of’ despite the snub.
