Manchester United have now reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Defender Lisandro Martinez, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils have agreed to pay Ajax £46m for Lisandro Martinez, and the deal got completed today.

Talks progressed on Wednesday thanks to former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Ajax rejected United’s offer of £42.5m plus add-ons last week but submitted an improved offer after talks on Wednesday.

The Dutch club have now identified Lisandro’s potential replacement as Mykola Matvienko.

Argentine defender Lisandro told the Ajax board clearly that he wants to leave due to interest from Arsenal and United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have now sealed a deal with Ajax for Martinez.

He has a strong relationship Erik ten Hag and the two have spoken about the transfer recently.

Lisandro won the Dutch league with Ten Hag last season and he was named Ajax’s player of the year before his exit

The 23-year-old defender has won three league titles in the Netherlands since his move to the Eredivisie in 2019.

However, he is not the tallest centre-back and has a height of 5ft 9ins.

Despite the short height, Lisandro can read the game well, and is very good in one-on-one situations.

The Argentine is also versatile as he can play at centre-back, left-back and as a defensive midfielder.

United currently have six senior defenders and have already put some players like Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly on the transfer list.
