According to Fabrizio Romano, Calvin Bassey has officially joined Ajax after all negotiations have been completed and signed.

The Nigeria international is said to peel down a 5-year-contract which will extend his sat with the club till 2027.

He was not part of the Ranger’s team, which played a friendly against Blackpool in their preseason match.

Speaking with Sky Sports on why he led Bassey in the friendly against Blackpool, Bronckhorst said

”not taking him with the team, was a better choice since the club was in talks for his move, and he (Bassey) was okay with that.”

Blonckhorst went on to highlight his position on Calvin’s abilities. He said he would like to keep the player.

‘Yes, Calvin is a good player. I dould love to keep him, and he has improved in the last six months since coming from the bench into the team.”

However, Blonchorst stated that despite his wish to keep the Nigeria international, the interest of Rangers overrides every other consideration.

Calvin Bassey is the third Nigeria international to exit Rangers after the departure of Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo.
