Chelsea Eyes Lucas Digne To Replace Injured Chilwell (DETAILS)

Chelsea are considering a move for Everton left back Lucas Digne after ruling Ben Chilwell out for the season.

Chilwell will have surgery on his knee ligament injury after the club initially thought he could recuperate without an operation.

They are now considering options with France international Digne among the names to have been discussed.

The 28-year old has not played for Everton since falling out with manager Rafa Benitez.

He has also been offered to Newcastle United while Napoli and Inter Milan are also among those interested.

Thomas Tuchel will look to make Digne a cover for Marcos Alonso or Azpilicueta who doubles as a left back in the absence of Chilwell and Alonso.

Discussions could lead to a Chelsea player heading in the opposite direction with former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley among the names floated.

It is also reported that Ross Barkley has a loan interest from Leeds and Newcastle United.

Ajax left back Nicolas Tagliafico is another name Chelsea have talked about in recent weeks with the Dutch side open to offers for the Argentine.
