FT: Villarreal 2-1 Arsenal, Unai Emery Hunt GUNNERS! (Match Report And Highlight)

Trigueros and Raul Albiol both scored as Villarreal beat Arsenal 2-1 in the first leg semi final of the Europa League, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

Two goals in the first half of the encounter ensured the home side dominated play and made things hard for their opponent.

Trigueros opened the goal scoring in the 5th minutes of the game after a fine finish ensured Villarreal took a 1-0 lead in the early stages of the encounter.

Arsenal was poor in making sure they kept it cool as the pressure continued to pour on them without them being able to manage things well

The home side doubled their lead in the 29th minute of the game through a goal from Raul Albiol who made sure he finished off calmly to make it 2-0.

The away side had a call for a penalty which was later checked by VAR and not awarded to them in the 35th minute due to hand ball.

The game progressed without a goal as it ended in the first half Villarreal 2-0 Arsenal which they both headed for the break with advantage to the home side.

Second Half Report

The second half wasn’t that bad as we witnessed some drama between the two sides who had a lot to do.

Arsenal continued to push forward hoping for something to happened as their created opportunities couldn’t make anything happen.

Dani Ceballos made things difficult for his side as he was shown a second yellow which saw him sent off the game in the 57th minute.

Nicolas Pepe finally pulled one back for his side in the 79th minute after stepping up to convert from the penalty spot to make the scoreline 2-1.

Entienne Capoue was shown a red card in the 80th minute of the game as the match ended with Villarreal 2-1 Arsenal, as the home side claimed a 1st victory.
