Frank Lampard Speaks In 1st Interview Since Chelsea Sacking (Details)

Former Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard has described his time at the club as ‘incredible’ despite being sacked after just 18 months, MySportDab reports.

Lampard was sacked by Chelsea in January with his team in ninth position, and five points off the Champions League spots.

He was immediately replaced by Thomas Tuchel, which some Chelsea fans were not happy about at first

However, speaking for the first time since leaving, Lampard has now admitted that the atmosphere during matches lost its edge without fan

‘I appreciate the opportunity I had to manage Chelsea,’ he said in a Q&A with the Willow Foundation.

‘It was a great time. Everyone understands how I feel about the club.’

When Lampard was sacked, Chelsea insisted in the statement that the performances on show from Lampard’s team are far behind the club’s expectations’.

A run of five defeats in eight Premier league games is another reason why Chelsea sacked Lampard.

Chelsea’s owner described Lampard as a ‘man of great integrity.’

In his first season at Chelsea, Lampard took Chelsea to a fourth-placed finish, and also reached the FA Cup Final.

However, despite spending over £230million on new players, Chelsea went slipped down the Premier League table.

Lampard added: ‘I missed the fans, from the project restart onwards, to the time I left.

‘I knew the effect it has on games. It’s like the edge was taken off.’

However, Fans will be slowly allowed back into the Stadium for this summer Euro 2020.
