2020-21 Premier League Flops Of The Season

Timo Werner (Chelsea)

Chelsea paid £52m to sign the German striker from RB Leipzig last summer.

Werner has now failed to impress in the Premier League, losing his reputation as one of Europe’s best strikers.

He has played the most matches for Chelsea this season and still does not have enough goals in the League.

In 2,763 minutes of football, Timo Werner has scored 10 goals.

In the League, he scores a goal every 409 minutes which is bad for a striker.

More into his stats, Werner has provided only one league goal since November of 2020.

Gareth Bale (Tottenham)

Bale joined Tottenham on loan from Real Madrid, and fans were excited about his return to the club.

He returned to the Premier League this season with a point to prove after his spell at Real Madrid.

He failed to impress in his first few weeks at Tottenham but has now gotten back in form.

Thiago (Liverpool)

Liverpool signed Thaigo from Bayern Munich last summer for £25m.

The was stated as one of the best transfer deals of the summer.

Jurgen Klopp brought in the midfielder only a few weeks after Bayern Munich lifted the Champions League.

He won 16 trophies in seven seasons during his time at Bayern Munich.

Thiago has now failed in the Premier League, with no goal or assist in 15 Premier League matches so far this season.

His record makes him one of the 2020-21 Premier League flops of the season so far.

Van de Beek (Manchester United)

The attacking midfielder joined Manchester United last summer as back-up for Bruno Fernandes.

However, Van De Beek is now ready to leave Manchester United after only two Premier League starts this season.

The Dutchman will discuss with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward before the season ends to sort out his future at the club.

Van de Beek has started 11 matches across all competitions with his 15 appearances as a substitute from the bench.

Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea)

Another Chelsea player that has failed to impress this season is Hakim Ziyech.

Ziyech has not performed at the level many Chelsea fans expected from him this season.

His performance at Ajax gave fans hope a brilliant player joining the club but it has been the opposite.

Ziyech’s ability from set-pieces has gone away as he looks to find his form under new Coach Thomas Tuchel.

The Moroccan has scored only one goal in 15 Premier League matches so far this season.
