Pogba ‘Tripped HIMSELF For Man Utd Penalty – Villa Coach Smith (VIDEO)

Aston Villa Coach Dean Smith has claimed that Manchester United’s penalty against his Aston Villa team was not deserved, MySportDab reports.

Smith believes that Paul Pogba tripped over his own legs to win the penalty for Manchester United.

Villa were 1-1 in the second half after Bertrand Traore’s goal but Pogba went down in the penalty area after a challenge by Douglas Luiz.

Referee Michael Oliver decided it is a penalty which Bruno Fernandes scored to continue his fantastic form at Manchester United.

However, the Aston Villa Coach said that Luiz did not touch Pogba and that the referee should have consulted VAR.

Smith told Sky Sports: ‘At first, i thought it was a penalty, but I watched the incident after the game and saw that he tripped himself. I don’t understand why Michael Oliver did not use the monitors.

‘That’s why VAR is available isn’t it? He tripped himself to win the penalty. There a large margin in football. I’ve seen it, and I don’t believe it’s a penalty.’

The Villa manager added: ‘I thought Douglas Luiz was too tight on Paul Pogba but then I went into the dressing room to see it and i think he tripped himself.’

Villa were 1-0 down at half-time after Anthony Martial scored from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s beautiful cross in the first half.

However, Traore scored to put Smith’s Villa level in the second half of the game.

But Luiz conceded a penalty after his foul Pogba just minutes after Villa scored their goal.

Manchester United went ahead again and did well enough to secure all three points Vs Aston Villa.

The 2-1 defeat is Villa’s first loss away from home since November ending and their fifth in 15 Matches, but they are still in sixth place on 26 points.
