But the Reds will be desperate to show their quality today against Villa after such a loss to City, Klopp is likely to make changes to his starting eleven at Anfield.

Klopp named the same starting XI at Manchester City and also against Crystal Palace a week before.

But against Villa, he could make some changes to his defence, although Virgil van Dijk will keep his starting spot.

After missing the Man City game, Dejan Lovren is unlikely to play ahead of Joe Gomez despite the England international’s poor performance on Thursday night.

In right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to start and Andy Robertson will also keep his place at left back.

In midfield, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is expected to be given a rest after playing the full match against City.

Fabinho should start in the holding midfield role, with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both starting to replace Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum.
