BREAKING! Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson Named FWA Footballer Of The Year

Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson has been named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year after securing the Premier League title, MySportDab reports.

Jordan Henderson has won the award ahead of Kevin De Bruyne and other Liverpool team-mates.

Some other Premier League players also received votes.

Liverpool have enjoyed a fantastic season under Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-20 campaign, winning their first Premier League title in 30 years.

Players such as Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah all played a key role in Liverpool’s success.

However, the Football Writers’ Association have recognised captain Henderson as the best player this 2019-20 season.

De Bruyne was revealed as his biggest rival for the prize with the Manchester City midfielder also performing very well.

Jordan Henderson, Kevin De Bruyne, Marcus Rashford, Virgil Van Dijk and Sadio Mane were also nominated.

Alexander-Arnold and Alisson have also received votes for the prize while Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling were contenders.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, James Maddison, Adama Traore, Danny Ings, Jack Grealish, and Jonny Evans also received votes for their performances this season.

Speaking on receiving the award, Henderson said:

“I would like to say that I appreciate the support of people who voted for me and the Football Writers’ Association.

“You can look at the past winners of it, winners of which I’ve been blessed to play alongside here at Liverpool, like Luis, Stevie, and Mo to know how prestigious the award is.

“But I don’t feel like I can accept this on my own.”
