Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has shown his support for the Black Lives Matter trend which is currently going on across the world, MySportDab reports.

Sterling believes that ‘the only disease we are fighting right now is racism’.

The 25-year-old has spoken frequently against discrimination and will to continue to speak out.

There have been protests in the UK across the likes of London, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Nottingham after George Floyd’s death.

46-year-old George Floyd died in Minneapolis on May 25 and the four police officers involved in his death have been charged over his death.

But protests have since taken place across the world, with Sports stars using their influence to support the movement.

In an interview, Sterling told BBC Newsnight: ‘I know this sounds a bit cheesy but the only disease we are fighting right now is racism.

‘This is the most important thing right now in time because it has been going on for years and years. Just like the virus outbreak, we need find a solution.

‘This is what all these protests are for. They are doing something to find a solution and stop the injustice they are seeing, and they are fighting for it.

‘As long as it is done peacefully and safely and not hurting anyone and no stealing from shops, they should protest in this peaceful way.’
