Chelsea Open Talks With Bayern Leverkusen For £90m Kai Havertz Transfer

Chelsea have opened negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen about a possible transfer for midfielder Kai Havertz in the summer, MySportDab reports.

Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard is looking to complete his signings early this year and has spent £80m already.

Ajax Star Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner will complete their transfer to Chelsea at the end of July.

Frank Lampard looks to continue rebuilding the squad to try and challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

Another top target for Chelsea is Leicester Left-back Ben Chilwell but they are in talks with Leverkusen also.

Both Willian and Pedro are expected to leave Chelsea on a free transfer at the end of the season so new players are required.

Havertz is one of the top players in the German Bundesliga and has told Bayern Leverkusen he wants to leave.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea and Leverkusen are still negotiating a possible deal for the 21-year-old.

However, the £90m asking price is a sticking point and may be reduced for any agreement between the two clubs.

Havertz has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in the Bundesliga so far, which has attracted interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

Real Madrid and Manchester United are also closely monitoring the versatile midfielder.

Chelsea have the enough funds to spend on their squad this summer after the sales of Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard.
