CoronaVirus: Club Owner Infected By VIRUS, Wolves Submit UEFA Match Request!

Wolves have asked UEFA to postpone their Europa League last-16 match against Olympiakos due to the CoronaVirus outbreak, MySportDab reports.

The Premier League club made the request to UEFA after Olympiakos’ owner Evangelos Marinakis announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Olympiakos players and staffs will now undergo tests to see if they have the coronavirus.

Thursday’s game at the Karaiskakis Stadium was scheduled to be played behind closed doors because of the deadly virus.

Confirming his CoronaVirus positive, Marinakis said: “The recent virus has affected me and I felt right to let the public know.

“I feel very well as I take all the necessary measures and I listen to the doctors’ instructions.

“I strongly advise all my fellow fans and citizens to do the same. I wish us all a quick recovery.”

Olympiakos sealed their place in the Europa League Last-16 after knocking out Premier League favorites Arsenal.

MySportDab understands Olympiakos owner Marinakis was present at the Emirates Stadium, which made the Gunners to release a statement.

It read: “Our home game against Olympiakos was played on Thursday 27th February and none of our staffs who came into contact with him on that matchday have complained about any symptoms.

“We continue to follow all necessary protocols with regard to coronavirus. We’re following the Government guidelines and have additional procedures in place to protect our staffs and players.

“This has included more deep cleaning of areas used by the players at Emirates Stadium and our training centre.”

If UEFA decline Wolves’ request to post the game, then the match will be played behind closed without fans in the stadium.
