Inter Milan Confirm Man Utd Talks For Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed they have held talks with Manchester United regarding the transfer of striker Romelu Lukaku, MySportDab reports.

Inter New manager Antonio Conte is keen to sign Lukaku but both clubs are yet to agree a fee.

However, Ausilio insists they have lodged an official approach and says they are still working on a deal.

“We had an official approach with Man United for Lukaku,” he said.

“We're working, we'll see. Every player we are trying to sign is wanted by Conte.”

United are said to be holding out for £75million - the exact sum the paid Everton to sign him in 2016.

Since then, the Belgian has scored 42 goals in 96 games in all competitions.

He was deemed surplus to requirements although recent reports suggest manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed his mind and now wants to keep him.

Despite that, Lukaku, 26, is firmly behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order and is keen to move to Italy.

Juventus are also said to be interested, although they are expected to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter.

That could be key to Inter’s bid for Lukaku as they look to raise money to fund the deal.

Conte tried to sign him as Chelsea manager before he joined United but failed in his attempt and ended up with Alvaro Morata instead.

He looks determined to get his man at the second time of asking and Luakaku is reportedly desperate to work with the Italian.

Lukaku is currently in Australia with the rest of the squad on United’s pre-season tour.
