Novak Djokovic Sets Sights On "Ultimate Grand Slam Challenge" After AUS Open Win!

Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic has set his sights on surpassing Roger Federer’s all-time Grand Slam record of 20.

And the 31-year-old insists he is nowhere near close to retirement.

The Serb smashed through Rafa Nadal inscintillating fashion at Melbourne park ina one-sided final.

Nadal, who hadn’t lost a set up until the final, couldn’t match his rival physically, losing 6-3 6-2 6-3.

He’s now been victorious in every Australian Open final he’s taken part in - and sits on 15 Grand Slams.

Novak Djokovic surpassed Roger Federer and Roy Emerson to win his seventh Aussie Open title, a men’s record.

Speaking on the possibility of beating Federer’s Grand Slam haul, Djokovic seemed fairly confident it could happen.

"I am aware that making history of the sport that I truly love is something special," Djokovic said.

"Of course, it [Federer’s slam record] motivates me. How many seasons are tocome? I don't know. I'm not trying to think too much in advance."

"I do want to definitely focus myself on continuing to improve my game and maintaining the overall well-being that I have - mental, physical and emotional,” the 15-time Grand slam winner added.

“I want to be able to compete at such a high level for the years to come, and have a shot at eventually getting closer to Roger's record. It's still far."

Combined, Djokovic, Nadal and Federer have now won 52 Grand Slams and are among the three greatest players to ever play the game.
