English Premier league side, Watford have announced the appointment of Javi Gracia as new manager on 18-month contract replacing Marco Silva.
Silva was sacked in the earlier hours of on Sunday by the club after ‘unwarranted approach,’ from EPL rival, Everton and a poor run of form that saw just one win in 11 outings.
Gracia, 47, takes over as Watford’s 10th manager on an 18-month contract at Vicarage Road.
The experienced 47-year-old, who has signed an 18-month contact with the Hornets, has previously coached clubs in his native Spain as well as Greece and Russia.
Watford said in a statement today, “The club announces the appointment of Javi Gracia as new manager on 18-month contract replacing Marco Silva.”
Gracia, who kept Malaga safely in mid-table after a financial meltdown had stripped them of their best players, including Santi Cazorla, will evaluate his squad after taking his first training session on Monday morning.
As a player, former Spain Under-21 international Gracia was a vastly experienced defensive midfielder who featured prominently for the likes of Real Sociedad and Villarreal.
